VIDEO: What do you think of paying higher student fees for a new recreation center at SF State?

SF State students will soon see an increase in a mandatory recreation center fee of $35 that is paid with tuition.

The fee not only covers costs for students to use the current facilities, but also will be used to build a new facility to be completed several years from now.

The new recreation center carries an estimated price tag of $80 to $92 million that is partially being funded by this gradually-increasing student fee.

That fee will jump to $90 each semester for the next academic year and up to $160 by the fall 2015.

Editor Juan De Anda and photographer Melissa Burman went around SF State asking students their reactions to the fee increase.
