Gators basketball advances in CCAA playoffs

The SF State men’s basketball team routed Cal State Los Angeles 57-47 to move to the next round of the playoffs in front of its largest crowd of the season.

The estimated 759 in attendance cheered as the Gators only shot 37.5 percent from the field but were able to hold the Golden Eagles to just 28.6 percent shooting, including 1-18 from three-point range.

Forward Winston Demmin led the Gators with a game high of 17 points getting to the free-throw line eight times. He also had nine rebounds and one block. Forward James Albright also flirted with a double-double scoring 12 points and grabbing seven rebounds.

The Gators went into the game splitting the season series with Cal State Los Angeles 1-1.

James Tillman led Cal State Los Angeles in scoring with 16 points.

SF State will travel to Ontario, Calif. on Friday. The Gators will not know their opponent until the teams are reseeded.
